You cannot eat your cake and still have it. If you don't want/need something then pass it on to someone else who is hungry for it. I agree with Olanrewaju that development should go round paticularly to the less privileged areas of the state. If Ikere want to hold on to the Ccllege of Education (CE) fine, and if they don't need a Univrsity of Educaton (UE) let it go somewhere else in the state. But what is the futility of holding on to the CE when, in no distant future the National Policy of Education would make the NCE only relevant in primary education?
Even at that, look at the number of higher institutions on the Ado-Ikere axis.....Unad, Fed Poly, the new Afe Babalola private unversity all at Ado and the CE/UE at Ikere. For a non-political observer and independent, the North Senatorial axis is not asking for too much if either the CE or the UE is sited there. We should always see ekiti as belonging to all and sundry.
To me personally, we should move beyond dotting schools here and there. What we need is creating job opprunities, cottage industries, self employment agencis/grants to countless ekiti youths and graduates roaming the streets like homeless orphans. We should stretch our job absorptive capacities to the fullest so that we can make a meaning out of existing educatinal opportunities in and out of the state. This is a more serious challenge facing the Oni adinistration in the state.

The crisis over the relocation of the University of Edu. is uncalled for. It shows the level of exposure of some people in the state. Ekiti North, is the only senatorial district without any tertiary institution. The people of Ikere said, they wanted the college of edu not the university of edu. Now they are proving to be selfish by claiming what they had earlier rejected. It is not out of place if we allow our brothers from the north to feel the presence of government in their midst. The spirit of federal character should be allowed to reflect in the way and manner we share public utilities. Those saying that, Ekiti would go on fire if the university is relocated, are parochial and are the ones their father's house will be set on fire. Why are we so wicked? Must we run down the state at all cost? What do we stand to gain in pulling the state back all the time? The Fed. Poly, Ado Ekiti was relocated from Akure and Akure people did not burn a paper because of it. The university and college belong to all of us. | Ilori Olanrewaju | 2009-06-18 17:52:30 |

Ekiti will never progress if we still continue to discriminate among ourselves. Ekiti people should see themselves as one big family. Stop criticizing Segun Oni and accept the University of Education in Ifaki Ekiti.
Uncivilized indigene of Ekiti are those that are looking for the downfall of Segun Oni's administration. Ekiti people be careful!!! | Mary | 2009-06-06 15:40:19 |

there is nothing wrong in locating the university in ifaki which is the north senatorial district. this is the only senatorial district yet to have a state or federal high institution. Ifaki is in the heart of Ekitiland this i think make the location in ifaki a good thing. the location is very accessible and there is necessary infrastructure on ground to allow the smooth take off of the institution. this lawmaker should come to town and let approve this bill and allow this future leader to resume on time | ekiti ronu | 2009-06-06 15:21:07 |

Oni you 're looking for trouble by relocating University to ifaki.you want to set Ekiti to fire and your great grand children will suffer for it. Be careful!!!! | Ekiti Voice | 2009-06-05 10:41:47 |
oni should not set ekiti on fire by his action of relocating the university to ifaki.let him check what the act of the parliament /resolution setting up the institution guide him before he embarks on his suicide mission.
