Kamarudeen Ogundele, Ado Ekiti

A 13-year-old boy, Odunayo Sunday, has escaped from his captors two days after he was kidnapped in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

The boy was reportedly found by a Good Samaritan at Ugbe Akoko, in the Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Sunday was kidnapped at the Moferere area of Ado Ekiti by two men while hawking vegetable.

The men, who were inside a Sport Utility Vehicle had pretended to be interested in the produce.

An eyewitness said the men bought vegetable worth N100 and gave the boy N1,000 note, expecting N900 change.

“After looking for the change without success, the men beckoned on him to come. They forced him inside the car and sped off.”

Sunday said told PUNCH Metro on Thursday that he was taken to a place inside a thick bush where their gang members were also waiting.

He said, “Something happened among them and they started quarreling, I ran as far as my leg could carry me before reaching the main road.

“I narrated my ordeal to a commercial driver and he took me to Ado Ekiti free of charge.”

Sunday’s guardian, Mrs. Rachel Balogun, expressed appreciation to God for the safe return of the boy.
