From Wole Balogun, Ado Ekiti

Two persons were yesterday feared dead in an auto accident at Ajebamidele Junction along Ikere Road in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

According to an eyewitnesses, a new Mazda car believed to be coming from Ikere-Ekiti rammed into a stationary Mercedes Benz truck parked on the roadside.

The car, with registration number TY 333 AAA which carried five persons, including the driver, was said to be on high speed before hitting the truck with registration number AAA 242 XA.

Officers of the Nigeria Police and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) moved to the scene to join other people to rescue victims from the mangled car.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Alberto Adeyemi, who confirmed two persons died while three others are on danger list at the Emergency Ward of Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), said the incident occurred yesterday morning.

Public Education Officer of FRSC, Ekiti Sector Command, Mohammed Olowo, said the accident was caused by over-speeding by the Mazda car driver.

Olowo said: “Over-speeding on the part of the Mazda car driver caused the accident. Five people were involved and the victims were taken to the hospital.”
